NEON EMO BARF REVOLUTIONdA's most popular page inspired me. Yeah that's right, I went there.
I'd say perhaps crap getting a lot of attention would be good, as more people would be telling them ways to improve, but no. Not when the only comments they're getting is about how awesome they are, inflating their egos and making them total asshats.
Don't get me wrong, I like rainbows, but there comes a point where it stops being pretty and just plain burns your eyes out of their sockets. Paired with cliche emo characters and Tim Burton ripoffs it makes me die inside.
I have another of these, but I'm saving it for next month. hint hint.

@PH IKR xD I was talking to some peoples on MSN and we were like OMG WTF at the popular stuff. They were serioualy just black scibbles with really bad pencil colouring and bright neon rainbow barf all over it. I mean, this one had seriously JUST joined dA and only have a couple of really crappy doodles in their gallery, and they all have over 200 faves and they're coming up to 20,000 page views. In under a week ._. and there are so many of them omg. It's just... I dunno, disheartening? Because I know so many super talented artists who put so much time and effort and thought into the things they make, and get a 3 minute doodle gets 5000 favourites. Why? Because it's emo and neon rainbow barf.

Fair enough having a sketch account and stuff, but really, if it's shit don't post it on an art site =_= if you want to post doodles get a freaking art blog and spam it there, you know? =A=
@cinOmggg I didn't even know about that part. DDDD8 I just see so many scribbles lately getting loads of attention and it's like lkajdkjald BAH. I spent loads of time and effort on my stuff and I don't get as much attention as people who spent five minutes on doodles. T-T It's so annoyingggg. CALL IT ME BEING JEALOUS but it really is lmao. :'D

@PH hey it's well called for jealousy :P it's just plain not fair. But I guess that's just the taste of this generation.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the amount of people who can't draw for fudge outnumbers those that can, so they rally think those are brilliant. Or on the other hand maybe they like them because it gives them confidence in their own level of abilities? >_>;

But yeah, whatever. It's deviant ART not deviant DOODLE-SHIT. I mean seriously. If half of those people DOING this actually sat down and tried they could probably create some really kickass stuff, but they just don't because they want attention :T
Unfortunately that kind of action will only result in trolls and ED articles about them.
Is popularity really worth being verbally attacked every day by people who don't even know you? Seriously. I've been there, done that, it's nothing magical or amazing =_=; I don't miss people flaming me one bit.
@cin Well I never got SUPERFLAMED when I was popularz but I did get the occasional person telling me I failed and there was that one time journal fight...O THE FUN TIMES. :'D
ReplyDeleteBut yeah there's so much drama everywhere on DA now and pageviews go WHOOSH from it all lmao. It's half the reason I stopped posting journals and stuff, it's like, I'm sick of drama as it is, don't need to add to it. :T
But I do agreeee it seems a good number of people are just drawing and drawing for attention and views and they don't even care about the quality of their art or anything. I mean I love doodles, they're neat, but if your gallery consists mainly of them then LOL you need a sketch account or something. :'DDD
OH AND THE TROLLS. Trolls scare me. They're so uncool. If I ever have a troll one day I give permission to any of your evil OC's to eat him and/or kill him on sight. >D> AND CAIUS WILL DO THAT FOR YOU TOO. (He's that bastard OC I has that's Solly's dad, you know, THEEVILONE.)
